Gorgeous Grays! Are you Ready to Rock It?

Rene of Paris Amal Silverstone

Hi everyone! Teresa here! I’ve been out for a bit dealing with a medical issue, but I’m happy to say things are going great and I’m back at the keyboard! I’m trusting everyone enjoyed the holidays, spending time with loved ones and enjoying some treats!

Of course, right on the heels of celebrations all around, winter showed up in a big way across the country, didn’t it? Here in Minnesota we’re used to that, but our gorgeous friends in the Southeast got blasted with some very unusual cold temps and snow, didn’t you? Whew! Hope you all stayed warm and are beginning to thaw out!

Well, like it or not, beauties, today we are talking about gray. Yep! It happens to all of us, some sooner than others; those gray hairs start popping up, our skin starts to lose some of its rosiness and tone and well, truth be told, we begin to look just a bit older. One of the first places we start to see that is our hair.

For many women, whether or not to go gray is a choice. With bio hair we can decide to color it. Wig wearers have the choice as well if they want to rock that gray or tuck it away for a few more years.

It’s important to remember though, that it isn’t just our hair that changes as we age. Our skin tones change as well and that can affect how our hair color appears. For example, if you’ve always worn an ash blonde, as you move into your 40s and beyond, you may notice that blonde starts looking more gray. The ashy tones really begin to stand out more as the color of your facial skin changes. That can bring you right back to decision time- go with the gray or switch up your color?

Here’s another thought to consider regarding grays. Platinum. Yep, that’s right. With the trend of extreme platinums, especially those with a bluish undertone, we can admit that gray really isn’t so far-fetched, is it? Maybe it’s the term we hate and not really the color?

Go Gray Gradually and Gracefully

One great way to transition into grays is to do it gradually. Choose a color with just highlights of gray. These colors are incredibly natural looking and they add some oomph to your maturing hair. Most of us go gray on a gradual basis and the incredible designers at our manufacturers know this. They’ve created some amazing colors.

The beauty of it comes from the variety of grays we carry. You can begin with just a touch of silver, then move to a color with a salt and pepper look before you slide into a full gray. You can keep your dark roots as long as you want. You can pick one of the fabulous platinum colors and keep some pizazz in your gray as long as you want it!

How To Go Gray Without the Drama or the Trauma

One of the best things we can do for ourselves is gain a new perspective on going gray. We need to let go of the idea that gray hair means we’re getting older! Instead, look on the experience of life with joy as you consider the experiences you’ve had and the wisdom you’ve gained. As our kids grow up and move out of the house, we regain a freedom to do the things we love. As we retire from our jobs, we enter into a stage of life where we can do all the things we’ve worked so hard to make time for: travel, vacations, warm weather for the winters, grandchildren, volunteer opportunities and more become very real possibilities. Deciding to embrace these years, and the colors that come with them, opens us up to loving the sophisticated beauty of grays! Embrace it, gorgeous!

Are you ready? We’ve made it easy to begin your search for that radiant silvery gray that is perfect for you. All of our styles that come in gray are listed right here on this page. Go ahead! What are you waiting for?
