Wigs 101 - Renew and Refresh at NameBrandWigs.com

Hi all, it’s Chloe here! I hope that you are all enjoying the beautiful fall weather wherever you may be. :-)

With the cooler weather upon us and the dry air approaching, I think that there has never been a better time to talk about how to keep your hairpiece looking fresh and rejuvenated. Here are a few tips and tricks:

Use a detangling spray

Detangler enhances and prolongs the beauty of your synthetic wigs and extensions. It helps to eliminate frizz and tangles in the hair, while restoring the natural luster and body. All you need to do is spritz it on and comb through! One great option is the Jon Renau HD Smooth Detangler.

Try the Rene of Paris Revive Liquid Enhancement

This product is made for synthetic fibers to help eliminate static, add volume & texture, reduce frizzing ends, add luster, and restore curl patterns. Use Revive Liquid Enhancement on synthetic hair after washing for best results.

Invest in a mini steamer

Using a steamer is wonderful for restyling and reshaping a wig and really helps to rejuvenate the hair fibers when they’re starting to get worn and tired. The Jon Renau Wig Steamer, available on our website, is a powerful coupling when used in combination with the HD Detangler!

Don’t use wire brushes or wire combs on Heat Friendly fibers

A little-known fact that is definitely worth bringing up; wire brushes strip heat-friendly/defiant fibers of their properties, making them deteriorate a lot faster than normal and become more susceptible to damage. Instead, use a plastic brush or wide tooth comb! These are much safer for regular synthetics as well.

Use shampoo and conditioner specifically for alternative hair

Using a shampoo and conditioner made specifically for synthetic wigs or human hair wigs will keep your wig or other hairpiece looking its best. Regular shampoos and conditioners have added sulfates, chemicals, and dyes that can damage synthetic and processed human hair. If you want to ensure that you’re getting the intended lifespan out of your style, make sure to use the correct products for that hair type.

Do not use conditioner on a lace front

If your wig or hairpiece has a lace front, make sure you keep the conditioner off the front when you are washing your piece. Conditioner is known to actually untie the knots of hair in a lace front and cause them to fall out!

Hopefully these tips and tricks help you to keep your style looking as good as the day you got it! As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Have a wonderful fall season, everyone! :-)

Till next time,
