Spring Cleaning: Wig Edition

Posted by Erin on

I don't know about you, but I have been in a major Spring cleaning kind of mood! The snow has melted early in Minnesota, and with a new season comes the need to freshen up my surroundings. Some of us may even be finding ourselves with a little more time on our hands right now. So here are some fun ideas to keep you busy and help kick off a fresh start with the coming Spring!

Rearrange your wig closet!

Don't we all dream of having a big, beautiful wig closet full of endless style and color options? The thing is, wigs can take up quite a bit of room. Not to mention the wig box and hair care accessories. Now is the perfect time, whether you have two wigs or a closet full, to start organizing them. I would highly recommend using a labeling system by incorporating the tags or wig box into your theme. I don't know how many times I've spoke with someone who has come across a wig they forgot they even had! On top of that they can't remember the style name, or color of their piece because often times the inside tag does not indicate this. So what is the best way to store a wig? You can store them on a wig stand, a mannequin head, or even in the wig box. Make sure if you are leaving it in the box for more than a few weeks that you take it out, give it a good shake, and rearrange it in the box every so often to avoid cold set.

Paint a mannequin head

Hear me out! A styrofoam head is a great option for something to paint! It's just another outlet to let your creative juices flow. If you're not afraid of a little mess why not let your kids or grand-kids join in on the fun of painting one (without a wig on the wig head at the time of course) I have actually seen some of the creations our customers have come up with in the past, from adding a face with personality, to fake eyelashes, and even abstract designs. It is a great way to add some fun and brightness to your wig collection.

Experiment with styling

Have fun trying out new hair styles. Practice a new braid, curl your heat friendly synthetic style, or try out different styling products! Maybe you have always wanted to try cutting bangs (we suggest practicing on an older style that you are not too attached to. It is so fun creating new looks with your hair, and makeup, and if you feel cute when it's all done, snap some selfies, and tag us on Facebook or Instagram. We would love to see them!

Give your hair some extra TLC

You know that deep conditioning treatment you have been putting off for your human hair piece... or maybe you have a wig that has seen better days and is in need of some steaming. Well here is your chance! It is a great time to put into practice the important care that can be easy to skip over when we are busy. Your hair will thank you!!

Expand your wig knowledge

It seems like there is always a new wig tip out there or a newly released color to try and get a better idea of. Facebook is full of wig groups where you can get support and answers from other wig wearers. Perhaps you also have some wig knowledge to share! If you have the time we would love for you to review the products on our site to help others get a better idea before purchasing. Here are some great wig channels on YouTube that we love!
